Privacy policy

ClipBasin is made by Blue Basin Systems, L.L.C. ("we"). This policy covers the ClipBasin app for Windows and this website.
The short version
ClipBasin has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Your snippets and settings are saved on your PC, and we never receive them. They only leave your PC if you choose a sync folder or save an export somewhere that uploads it.
What ClipBasin keeps on your PC
- The snippets, sections, folders and apps you add, and your settings, in a ClipBasin folder in your Windows user profile (AppData).
- Backups of your snippets, made in that same folder just before a sync or import replaces them. The newest 20 are kept.
- An error log, if something goes wrong. It holds technical details about the error and stays on your PC unless you send it to us.
The folders and apps you add are opened on your PC. When you hover a folder, ClipBasin lists what's in it on screen; it doesn't read or send your files.
The clipboard
When you click a snippet, ClipBasin puts its text on the Windows clipboard. It marks those copies so that Windows leaves them out of clipboard history and doesn't sync them to your other devices.
Recent clips shows your Windows clipboard history (Win+V), which Windows itself keeps. ClipBasin reads it only to show it and never saves it. If you've turned on clipboard sync across devices in Windows settings, Windows does that syncing under the Microsoft Privacy Statement, not ClipBasin.
Sync and exports you choose
If you turn on sync, ClipBasin saves your snippets, sections, folders, apps and appearance settings to a file named ClipBasin data.json in the folder you pick. When that folder is in OneDrive or another cloud service, that service uploads the file under its own terms. Exports go wherever you save them.
Buying ClipBasin and the free trial
ClipBasin is sold through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft handles your payment and your license under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. To know whether you're in the trial or have bought it, ClipBasin asks Windows, which checks with the Microsoft Store. We never see your payment details.
Microsoft gives us reports about sales and installs. If your Windows is set to send diagnostic data, Microsoft may also share reports about ClipBasin crashes with us. These reports don't tell us who you are, and we use them only to understand sales and fix problems.
When you contact us
If you email, call or write to us, we use what you send, such as your name, contact details and any error log you attach, only to answer you and fix the problem. We keep that correspondence as long as we need it for support, and we don't sell or share it.
This website
This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no outside scripts or fonts. It's hosted by Cloudflare, which handles each visit to deliver and protect the site and keeps standard request logs (such as your IP address and browser type) under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. We don't use those logs to identify you.
Children
ClipBasin isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change how ClipBasin handles your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
